How do you use a suede mallet for a singing bowl?

  • Mallet in your dominant hand, hold the mallet like a baton and lightly strike the bowl with the padded side of the mallet on the bowl's mid-exterior wall. Striking the bowl will produce a pleasant, rich tone.
  • Rub the mallet against the outside edge of the lip of the bowl. After making four to five revolutions, the female overtone should build. Once the female overtone is present and clear, reduce your speed in order to create a more even voice.
